Code of Conduct
Kyadondo Rugby Football Club is a family-oriented club. This Code sets out the standards of behaviour expected of every member, player, coach, official, volunteer, parent, supporter and member of staff.
Our Values
All members, players, coaches, officials, volunteers, parents, supporters, and staff are expected to uphold the values of Respect, Discipline, Integrity, Passion, and Teamwork at all times.
All players, coaches, and team leaders are ambassadors of KRFC. Higher standards of conduct are expected from those in leadership positions, including captains, vice-captains, coaches, managers, committee members, and senior players.
KRFC is a family-oriented club with male and female players, youth participants, officials, members, supporters, and guests. All members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes safety, respect, personal responsibility, and the welfare of others.
Section 01
General Conduct
All KRFC members shall:
• Respect the laws of rugby and the spirit of the game.
• Respect referees, match officials, club leaders, and disciplinary decisions.
• Treat all people fairly and without discrimination.
• Avoid abusive, threatening, offensive, or intimidating behaviour.
• Protect the reputation of KRFC and rugby both on and off the field.
• Act honestly and ethically in all club activities.
• Comply with anti-doping, anti-corruption, and betting regulations.
• Never engage in conduct that brings the club or the game into disrepute.
Section 02
Players
All players shall:
• Play fairly and uphold the laws and spirit of rugby.
• Respect referees, match officials, opponents, teammates, coaches, and club officials at all times.
• Accept match official decisions without dissent, abuse, or public criticism.
• Win with humility and lose with dignity.
• Attend training, meetings, matches, and club activities punctually or communicate when unavailable.
• Take responsibility for personal fitness, discipline, and preparation.
• Support teammates and contribute positively to team culture.
• Behave in a manner that reflects positively on KRFC both on and off the field.
• Refrain from bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or conduct that undermines team unity.
• Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, substance abuse, or any behaviour that damages the reputation of the Club.
• Respect coaches' instructions, team selections, leadership structures, and disciplinary processes.
• Raise concerns through appropriate club channels rather than through public criticism, social media, or disruptive behaviour.
Section 03
Coaches, Officials, Administrators & Volunteers
All coaches, officials, administrators, and volunteers shall:
• Lead by example in conduct, professionalism, discipline, and respect.
• Recognise that they are role models whose actions influence players, supporters, and junior members.
• Treat all players fairly, consistently, and without favouritism.
• Promote a culture of respect, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Place player welfare, safety, and development above personal interests or short-term results.
• Communicate with players honestly, respectfully, and professionally.
• Avoid abusive, threatening, humiliating, or degrading language or behaviour.
• Make selection, disciplinary, and playing decisions objectively and in the best interests of the team and club.
• Support and uphold decisions made by club management and disciplinary bodies.
• Refrain from publicly criticising players, match officials, opposing teams, club leadership, or internal club decisions.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with players at all times.
• Protect confidential player, team, and club information.
Coach–Player Relationships
• Relationships between coaches and players shall be based on mutual respect, trust, and professionalism.
• Coaches shall never abuse their position of authority for personal, financial, social, or other gain.
• Players shall treat coaches with respect and professionalism, even when disagreements arise.
• Disputes between coaches and players shall be addressed through established club procedures and not through public criticism, social media, or behaviour that disrupts team unity.
• Both coaches and players share responsibility for maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive team environment.
Section 04
Parents, Fans & Spectators
All supporters shall:
• Respect players, coaches, match officials, and other spectators.
• Remain off the field of play unless authorised.
• Encourage and applaud positive play from both teams.
• Support player development and enjoyment of the game.
• Discourage underage drinking, drug misuse, vandalism, and corruption.
• Promote respectful behaviour and uphold the reputation of KRFC.
Section 05
Anti-Corruption & Betting
To protect the integrity of rugby:
• No member shall bet on rugby matches or events in which they may influence or possess privileged information.
• No member shall attempt to influence, manipulate, or fix the outcome of any match or rugby event.
• Confidential team, player, injury, selection, or tactical information must not be shared for betting or personal gain.
• Any suspected corruption, betting violation, or match manipulation must be reported immediately to club management.
Section 06
Social Media & Public Communications
All members, players, coaches, officials, volunteers, supporters, and staff are ambassadors of KRFC and must act responsibly when communicating publicly, including on social media platforms, messaging groups, interviews, podcasts, and other media. Members shall:
• Use social media and public platforms responsibly and respectfully.
• Protect the reputation of KRFC, its teams, members, sponsors, partners, and the game of rugby.
• Respect the privacy and confidentiality of club information.
• Avoid posting, sharing, or commenting on content that is abusive, offensive, discriminatory, defamatory, threatening, or likely to bring the club or the game into disrepute.
• Not publicly criticise or make derogatory comments about:
– Match officials, referees, or disciplinary decisions;
– Opposing teams, players, coaches, or supporters;
– KRFC members, staff, management, committees, or volunteers;
– Internal club matters, disputes, disciplinary cases, or confidential information.
• Not represent personal opinions as official club positions unless specifically authorised to do so.
• Refer media enquiries and requests for official comment to the designated club spokesperson or management.
The Club reserves the right to investigate and take disciplinary action against any member whose public statements, social media activity, or communications damage the reputation, interests, or harmony of KRFC or the game of rugby.
Section 07
Misconduct
Misconduct includes any behaviour that is:
• Unsporting, dishonest, abusive, threatening, or discriminatory.
• Damaging to the reputation of KRFC, Uganda Rugby Union, or the game of rugby.
• Inflammatory.
• In breach of this Code of Conduct or World Rugby regulations.
• KRFC reserves the right to investigate misconduct and impose disciplinary action where necessary.
• Misconduct includes inappropriate use of social media, publication of confidential information, or public comments that damage the reputation of KRFC, its members, match officials, sponsors, or the game of rugby.
Serious misconduct
The following may constitute serious misconduct:
• Theft of properties owned by the club, members, supporters or any visitor / guest.
• Sexual harassment.
• Sexual assault or abuse.
• Exploitation of a position of authority for personal or sexual gain.
• Sharing intimate content without consent.
• Conduct that creates an unsafe, hostile, or intimidating environment.
• Behaviour that brings KRFC or the game of rugby into disrepute.
• Use and or supply of any illegal substances (drugs, weapons, etc.).
Possible sanctions
Possible sanctions may include:
• Verbal or written warnings.
• Suspension from activities and / or entrance to the club.
• Removal from leadership positions.
• Termination of membership and expulsion from the club.
• Referral to Uganda Rugby Union, other relevant authorities or Uganda Police.
Section 08
Relationships, Sexual Conduct & Safeguarding
KRFC is committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and professional environment for all members. All members shall:
• Treat others with dignity, respect, and professionalism at all times.
• Ensure that all personal relationships are consensual, lawful, and do not negatively affect the welfare of individuals, team culture, or the reputation of the Club.
• Refrain from any form of sexual harassment, coercion, intimidation, unwanted advances, or inappropriate behaviour.
• Respect personal boundaries and the right of every individual to participate in rugby free from harassment or pressure.
• Not use their position, status, authority, or influence within the Club to pursue, pressure, or exploit another person for personal or sexual relationships.
• Conduct themselves responsibly at club events, tours, social functions, and while representing KRFC.
• Take personal responsibility for the consequences of their actions and decisions.
• Respect the privacy and dignity of others and not share intimate images, messages, or personal information without consent.
• Immediately report any concerns regarding harassment, exploitation, abuse, or safeguarding issues through appropriate club channels.
Additional Requirements for Coaches, Managers, Officials & Persons in Authority
Individuals holding positions of authority within KRFC shall:
• Maintain professional boundaries with players and individuals under their supervision.
• Avoid any relationship or conduct that may create a conflict of interest, perceived favouritism, or abuse of authority.
• Not engage in any conduct that exploits a power imbalance between themselves and another member.
• Act at all times in a manner that protects the welfare, safety, and dignity of players and members.
Safeguarding Young Persons
• Any relationship, communication, or conduct involving a minor must comply with applicable laws and safeguarding policies.
Any suspected abuse, exploitation, grooming, or inappropriate conduct involving a minor shall be reported immediately to Club management and the relevant authorities.
